Joker’s
Wild was formed in August of 1990 when the original four members
met informally at the Buckeye Invitational a cappella festival in
Columbus, Ohio. The sound and enthusiasm
of the evening convinced them to sing together.
At
their first appearance in the International Competition of the
Barbershop Harmony Society in July 1991, Joker’s
Wild placed
10th, becoming International Finalists. In July 1992, at the International
Competition in New Orleans, LA, they were named
5th Place Bronze Medalists. The next year they became the 1993 2nd
Place Silver Medalists in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. And finally,
in July 1994 in Pittsburgh, PA, Joker's Wild was crowned
the 1994 International Quartet Champions of the
Barbershop Harmony Society.
Since
winning the championship, Joker’s
Wild has been featured on shows and concerts throughout the
world, entertaining audiences in the United States, Canada, England,
Germany, Italy, France, New Zealand and Spain. The quartet has also
performed on national television, including Good Morning America,
and on concerts with the Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Chicago Symphony
Orchestras under the musical direction of Oscar, Grammy, Tony, Emmy
and Pulitzer Prize Award winner, Marvin Hamlisch.
The
group is currently in the studio recording tracks for a new album
and also in rehearsals for an upcoming tour. |
